Battery in the End What Is It For?
Fanuc numerical control system in the shutdown state, rely on the battery to the memory power supply, used to keep the parameters, programs, bias values, ladder diagrams and so on. If the power goes out, these things can't be saved.
Common
Fanuc controllers like the 0i, 16i, 18i, 21i, 30i, and 31i series have batteries that are usually 3V or 6V lithium batteries that look like a small wire with a plug.
Once the battery voltage is not enough, and you turn off the machine, the previous program, parameters may be lost, then the machine is basically on strike.
When Do You Really Lose Data?
As long as you change the batteries while the machine is powered on, you won't lose data. Dropping data usually happens at these times:
* The machine is off when you change the battery.
* The battery is completely dead before you think of changing it.
* Prompting "BAT” for a long time and ignoring it until the voltage is completely dropped.
* Improper battery replacement, such as poor contact, insert the wrong polarity.
Therefore, as long as the machine is supplied with electricity, the important information in the system will not disappear.
What Is the Correct Way to Change Batteries?
To put it bluntly, it's just one sentence: change the machine with the power on!
The following is a safe procedure for changing the batteries:
1. Make sure that the CNC system is on (not emergency stop, not just servo).
2. find the location of the battery box (may be on the motherboard, servo unit or spindle module next to).
3. Prepare a brand new battery of the same type (voltage and plug should be the same).
4. Replace the old battery quickly, try to finish within 1-2 minutes.
5. After replacing the battery, see if the alarm is eliminated.
6. Restart the CNC system and make sure the parameters are still there.
⚠️ Never change the battery when the machine is turned off, even if you think "it's quick to change it”, it's not safe.
What to Do if the Data Is Already Lost?
Sometimes you just can't make it in time, the battery is completely dead, and when the system is turned on, you realize that all the parameters are gone. Don't panic, see if you have a backup.
* First of all, find out what is lost: is it system parameters? Or program, bias, ladder diagram?
* Is there a backup file? See if there is a CF card, U disk, or the previous parameters in the computer backup.
* If it can be restored, use the card reading function or serial port tool that comes with the CNC system to restore it.
* No backup at all? Find professional maintenance, such as us Songwei, can do: parameter rewriting, ladder diagram recovery, control system initialization, board level data recovery.
How to Avoid This Happening Again?
Batteries are not something to wait for an alarm before you worry about them. Preventing in advance is the only way to minimize accidents.
* Change the battery every 2~3 years, don't wait for the alarm.
* Check for battery alarms during daily inspections.
* Once you see the "BAT” indicator, deal with it as soon as possible.
* When changing batteries, it is recommended to use UPS regulated power supply to prevent sudden power failure.
* System parameters and ladder diagrams should be backed up regularly, and it is best to keep one copy each in your computer and U disk.
Lastly, A Reminder
Fanuc system battery, as long as the machine is on state to replace, the data will not be lost. But once you turn off the machine and then do it again, or the battery has long been dead, then it is likely to have to recover the system from scratch.
We Songwei long-term Fanuc control systems and servo motors to provide battery replacement, parameter backup, system recovery and other services, not sure how to operate, you can also contact us, remote assistance or door-to-door can be.
If you have any needs, just
find Songwei, less detour, do not lose data, save a bunch of trouble.
